In the central part of the northern Croatian coast, on a steep hill, from the old Frankish fort called NOVIGRAD, has developed and expanded along the coast tourist town NOVI VINODOLSKI.
Novi Vinodolski is located 30 kilometers from the airport on the island of Krk and 180 kilometers from Zagreb's airport. The vicinity of major motorways makes it easy to reach from all over Europe. From Trieste is only 122 km, 170 km from Ljubljana, 550 km from Budapest, Vienna 558 km, 590 km from Munich.
Historically is confirmed as political and cultural center of Vinodol in which in 1288 passed Vinodol Law, one of the most important documents in Croatian medieval common law.
The soul of the city are the remains of cultural heritage: walls of the Roman fortress "Lopsica", Frankopan castle with a tower, cathedral, Church of St. Trinity and St. Marina on the same island, house of brothers Mazuranic, Library from 1845., museum and gallery, the old core of the city, as well as the preserved authentic folklore of this city.
Novi Vinodolski is also known for its wine. Word “Vinodolski” = wine valley. At the beginning of the 20th century vineyards devastated disease, downy mildew. But today, after 15 years from the beginning of the renewal of vineyards, there are over 100,000 vines that produce over 60,000 liters of wine per year. Well-known kind of wine: Žlahtina, Chardonnay, Muscat Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
